Lightbulb Turkeys

I've been saving lightbulbs for awhile...but I wasn't sure what I was saving them for until the idea to make turkeys with them came to me one day. They were the perfect shape to make turkey heads....

First I hot glued them to the inside of a lid so that they would stand up on their own. 

Then each of the kids painted theirs brown and we let them dry for a day. 

Later we cut out felt feathers and glued them on, as well as the rest of the face. :) I think they turned out pretty cute and the kids had fun making them!

Turkey Treat-bags

It's almost that time...and we've been thinking about turkeys all month! Here's an easy craft we did last week that was fun for the kids to make (almost) all by themselves.  :) Joy and I have made them before, but we haven't in a few years...I think she was about preschool when we did. Joshua enjoyed making them though this time and filling them with yummy cookies for some of our friends and delivering them. It's always fun to bring friends treats, and its even more fun when they're in a cute package!

Buttons With the Baby

My 'baby' is finally big enough to play in the button box and not put them in his mouth. He probably has been for awhile, but we haven't played in the buttons recently. Until today, and he loved them. :)

We did some filling and dumping...

...and started naming some shapes and colors together. 'Star' was the first one he was able to name on his own so he was excited to find some star shapes in the button box. :) 

A Homemade Tunnel for the Hot Wheels

I've been saving this large cardboard tube for a LONG time...I don't even remember where it came from! But it was one of those things that I thought might be good for something someday.

Today...it was! The tube was telescoping so we taped it so it would stay open and extended and then taped it onto another toy so it would stay at an angle. It made for the perfect tunnel for the hot wheels cars and hours of fun throughout the day! :) Who knew, a piece of trash could be this fun?!

Flood of Tears!

There was a flood of tears when I read this today... When Compassion Becomes A Gold Rush. It's Ann Voskamp's most recent post about her trip to Ecuador with Compassion. Homeschool Co-Op

I don't usually post about our homeschool co-op on my blog but this last week was so much fun I just had to share! One of my many creative hobbies is cake decorating...(thanks Dad!) and this week I was able to share that with all the kids in our co-op. I made tons of these cute mini cakes and brought all of my supplies for them to explore and create with. They all did such a great job and seemed to really enjoy it, I know I did! :) We weren't able to be in our usual room because of the holiday, but our library was kind enough to let us do it in their little study room....icing and all! And I was so thankful for all of the other parents who stayed and helped and also cleaned up after us when we were done! :) It turned out great and the kids did a fantastic job on their cakes!

Only a military kid would put a helicopter on the top of his cake...SO cool!

Sweet Baby Feet

I have so much to be thankful for everyday...and some days I feel overwhelmed when I think of how blessed I am. Today it was these sweet baby feet that got me choked up...

These sweet baby feet that are growing too fast, that can run away from me all on their own without any help. These feet that are now the tiniest ones in our house....and they're not so tiny anymore. I saw them and smiled, and thanked God for these beautiful little feet, so full of spunk and life... and for the 6 other little feet God has blessed me with that were once this cute.  :)
